Several weeks ago, our Reading, PA office welcomed the 4th graders of Millmont Elementary School for a tour to help promote good oral hygiene. Here is an account of the visit:
The day started with our mascot, Timmy The Tooth, welcoming all the children. We then divided the children into groups, where we went over what a typical trip to the dentist for a check up entails. We went over the importance of proper brushing and flossing techniques and advised the effects of poor dental hygiene — and what went into composite/amalgam fillings, root canals, crowns, partial, and full dentures. The children were shown the sterilization area along with our lab and what happens in each area.
The children were then provided a healthy snack that consisted of apples, carrots, string cheese, and milk. The trip ended in our play area with a educational movie about the importance of good oral hygiene. Overall, the trip was a great way to educate our younger community that going to the dentist is not only important, but essential in maintaining a strong, healthy body. Two weeks later, we received 100 thank you cards from each child who came to visit us here at Dental Dreams. After speaking with the school, they assured me that they will be setting up field trips with us in the upcoming school year.
We are always glad to work with our communities and particularly our young people.
